Eismont shares details of Lukashenko-Coale talks

MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – The talks between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and U.S. Special Envoy for Belarus John Coale took several hours at the Palace of Independence in Minsk on 12-13 December, Press Secretary of the Belarusian president Natalya Eismont said on the air of the First News TV Channel, BelTA has learned.

When asked about the details of the talks, the press secretary said: “There is a reason why such negotiations were held behind closed doors: to ensure that no sensitive information is disclosed immediately afterward. I think you and everyone else understand that we will share more information when possible. However, at this moment, no additional details will be provided.”

“[The talks took] several hours yesterday and several hours today. Naturally, both major geopolitical issues and very specific practical bilateral matters were discussed,” Natalya Eismont stated, offering general details.
