MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – The parliament of Ecuador plans to set up a group of friendship with Belarus, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Ecuador Igor Poluyan with Speaker of the National Assembly of Ecuador Gabriela Alejandra Rivadeneira Burbano.

During the meeting Gabriela Rivadeneira voiced the initiative to set up the Ecuador-Belarus group of friendship in the National Assembly, the Belarusian ministry informed.

“The parties shared opinions on the state and prospects of bilateral relations. The sides took note of the important role which the legislative bodies of the two countries can play in strengthening the Belarusian-Ecuadorian cooperation in the political, trade, economic, sci-tech and other areas,” the press service added.

Apart from that, the parties expressed mutual interest in further development of inter-parliamentary relations, the exchange of parliamentary visits, and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
