MINSK, 24 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov and his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu have signed an agreement on exchanging information about promising solutions and technologies, BelTA has learned.
The document was signed following a joint board meeting of the defense ministries of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 24 October. The agreement regulates information exchange between the defense ministries of Belarus and Russia about research projects and solutions used to develop advanced weaponry. “Today we signed a series of important documents on military cooperation, including the agreement on exchanging information about promising solutions and technologies,” Andrei Ravkov informed. He emphasized absolute mutual understanding, common positions and shared views on all the matters discussed at the joint board meeting. “There is no doubt that successful implementation of all the planned events will help strengthen the defense capacity of our countries and the Union State in general, the minister noted.
The defense ministers of Belarus and Russia signed a plan for the Union Shield 2019 exercise. It will take place on the territory of Russia and will become the central event of joint training of the military command and troops next year. Apart from that, the parties signed cooperation plans for 2019 and an action plan of the joint board. They also discussed preparations for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
