MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – Bishkek hosted a meeting of the heads of the defense ministries of Belarus and the Kyrgyz Republic, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry.

Belarus’ Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin and Kyrgyzstan’s Defense Minister Ruslan Mukambetov coordinated positions on key areas of ministerial cooperation and signed a bilateral cooperation plan between the ministries for 2026.

Viktor Khrenin noted that bilateral military cooperation between the defense ministries is successfully developing. “The Kyrgyz Republic plays an important role in ensuring stability in the Central Asian region of collective security, which inevitably affects the situation in other regions of the organization’s collective security. Servicemen of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan regularly take part in joint events provided for by the annual plan of joint training of command bodies and formations of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system,” he emphasized.

The Belarusian minister invited Kyrgyzstan’s servicemen to participate in joint exercises with CSTO peacekeeping forces Indestructible Brotherhood 2026 and a special exercise with the joint radiation, chemical, and biological protection and medical support unit Barrier 2026, which are planned to be held in Belarus in October.

For his part, Ruslan Mukambetov stressed that the Defense Ministry of the Kyrgyz Republic is interested in further developing cooperation with Belarus’ Defense Ministry. He expressed confidence that this will also strengthen cooperation between the two states.

The ministers signed the bilateral cooperation plan for 2026. “This year we not only fulfilled but exceeded the plan of bilateral cooperation between our ministries. I propose that this document not be treated as a constant, but dynamically supplemented with additional activities. We are open to interaction. No topic is off-limits for us,” Viktor Khrenin noted.
