Coale: Trump invited Lukashenko to attend Board of Peace future meetings

MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) – U.S. President Donald Trump has invited Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to participate in future meetings of the Board of Peace, U.S. Special Envoy John Coale told the media following his talks with the Belarusian leader in Minsk on 19 March, BelTA has learned.

“Some time ago, we were disappointed that President [Aleksandr] Lukashenko was unable to attend the Board of Peace meeting that took place in Washington. But President [Donald] Trump has invited President [Aleksandr] Lukashenko to take part in any of the upcoming Board of Peace meetings. We discussed this issue. President [Aleksandr] Lukashenko confirmed that he will participate in one of the Board of Peace meetings,” the U.S. special envoy said.

As BelTA previously reported, the first meeting of the Board of Peace, initiated by Donald Trump, took place in Washington on 19 February 2026. Aleksandr Lukashenko, who had received an invitation, was unable to attend due to a previously scheduled agenda. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov was assigned to represent the country at the event. However, the United States did not issue visas to the Belarusian delegation.
