CIS Heads of Government Council to discuss joint financial, economic steps

MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) – The CIS Heads of Government Council will sit in Burabay, Kazakhstan on 29 May to discuss CIS joint actions in addressing financial and economic issues, BelTA learnt from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The participants of the meeting will consider over 20 draft documents in various areas of cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States. “The meeting will focus on joint steps in addressing current issues in the financial and economic area, progress made in the implementation of the adopted documents regulating innovative cooperation and outline events for 2015-2016 in the implementation of the interstate innovative cooperation program through 2020,” the press service said.

The heads of government will determine the main cooperation areas in forest management and timber industry for the following 10 years, which will help enhance the economic potential of the CIS forestry and timber industry, economic competitiveness, standards wellbeing and living conditions, and enter a new level of cooperation and wide cooperation, the development of the goods and services market in this sector.

The participants of the meeting will consider the draft concepts of interregional and border cooperation in the CIS through 2020 and the action plan for their implementation. “The primary goals of such cooperation is the assistance in the social and economic development of regions, including their geographical position, and the development of the trade, economic, cultural and human potential of the regions, the development of integration processes in the CIS, the formation and implementation of the mutually beneficial coordinated regional policy,” the press service said.

The CIS heads of government will consider the draft concept on the development of the interstate system of training, professional retraining and enhancement of qualifications of the intellectual property personnel.

The agenda of the meeting will also include a set of documents in the humanitarian area. The heads of government will considered the draft of main events on cultural cooperation for 2016-2020. The document envisages over 120 events aimed at enhancing and strengthening cooperation in various cultural areas.

Apart from that, the humanitarian block will comprise draft documents regulating cooperation in enhancing the qualifications of the pedagogical staff of the institutions of general education.

The security sector will include issues related to transport security in the CIS in the international traffic, control of the radiation, chemical and biological situation, and other issues.

The meeting of the CIS heads of Government will also consider a number of personnel and financial issues.
