CIS Heads of Government Council to discuss 23-point agenda in Minsk

MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – Twenty-three draft documents are to be discussed at a session of the CIS Heads of Government Council to be held in Minsk on 30 May, BelTA learnt from the CIS Executive Committee.

The heads of government will discuss economic cooperation, among other things, including the implementation of the CIS Interstate Innovative Cooperation Program for the period until 2020. Suggestions on improving the program implementation mechanisms have already been developed; the council of young scientists and specialists has been formed under the aegis of the Interstate Council for Sci-Tech and Innovative Cooperation.

Proposals have been prepared on the draft agreement on financing the events and projects included in this program. A set of measures to promote the program in the CIS, Europe and North America has also been developed. “Seventeen cooperation projects were presented at the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing. These projects focused on innovative cooperation with China in the field of information technologies, medicine, environment, and power engineering,” the CIS Executive Committee informed.

The agenda includes a draft cooperation agreement on exchange of sci-tech information. The document is designed to facilitate the information exchange, develop the CIS information and innovation space and make the most of the mutual use of information resources. The signatories to the agreement will undertake to facilitate mutual access to information resources.

The CIS heads of government will also discuss information exchange in the field of transportation, the CIS interstate radio-navigation program, cooperation in the humanitarian field, joint measures to prevent the spread of the foot-and-mouth disease, etc.

The CIS Heads of Government Council will also discuss financial and economic performance of the CIS bodies, appointment of the Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee-CIS Executive Secretary and the date of the next session of the Council.
