MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) - The Interstate Innovative Cooperation Program of the CIS Member States through 2030 has changed approaches to development and implementation of interstate innovation projects, Aleksandr Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus, said during a video conference of the CIS Economic Council, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Committee on Science and Technology.

According to the head of the committee, the program envisages an opportunity to start implementing projects with the participation of two CIS member states with further accession of other interested countries. The new program will be implemented through the development and approval of comprehensive action plans for its implementation for a period of five years. They will contain specific initiatives, activities and projects, indicating executors, volumes, sources of funding, as well as terms of their implementation.

“The main results of the new program will be an increase in the number of breakthrough technologies, as well as the organization of large-scale knowledge-intensive and competitive industries within the CIS common innovation zone,” said Aleksandr Shumilin.

In his words, the new program has been prepared taking into account the previous experience and requirements of the modern theory of forecasting and strategic planning within the framework of interstate innovative cooperation. The program was drafted by an interstate working group set up in late 2019. The group comprises experts in scientific and innovation activities from the CIS countries and representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo, the Skolkovo Foundation and the CIS Executive Committee.

The document was considered at meetings of the Interstate Council for Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation and the Commission on Economic Issues under the CIS Economic Council. The draft program will further be submitted to the CIS  Heads of Government Council.
