Chinese Xuzhou, Belarusian Mozyr to sign twin city agreement

XUZHOU, 8 May (BelTA) – The Chinese city of Xuzhou and the Belarusian city of Mozyr intend to sign a document on establishing twin city relations in autumn, BelTA learned from Cao Xinping, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Xuzhou.

The official mentioned that as the head of the Chinese delegation he visited Mozyr in 2014 for the first time. He was made thoroughly familiar with the city and possibilities of cooperation with its enterprises. The Chinese delegation also visited Minsk and Gomel. Members of the delegation left with the most favorable impressions of their visit to Belarus and now plan to visit Mozyr again in autumn and sign a city twinning agreement.

Cao Xinping underlined that Xuzhou will be an important point of the Economic Belt of the Silk Road. Since times immemorial the city has been considered the source of culture of the Han Dynasty. Now the city is an important junction of railways and motorways in China. The city boasts a well-developed mechanical engineering industry and logistics. Internationally recognized cranes and excavators are made in the city. “We would like to make our city the center of the Silk Road,” said the Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Xuzhou. He remarked that once tight ties are established with Mozyr, it will be possible to implement projects within the framework of the Economic Belt of the Silk Road together with Belarusian partners.
