MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – Chinese Defense Minister, member of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Wei Fenghe will visit Belarus on 5-8 April, representatives of the Embassy of China in Minsk told BelTA.
In Minsk the Chinese defense minister is expected to meet with a number of top-ranking officers of the Belarusian Defense Ministry. A number of other meetings have been planned, too. Wei Fenghe will visit Russia the day before coming to Belarus.
Those will be the first foreign visits of the Chinese defense minister after his recent appointment. The new composition of the Chinese government was approved on 19 March. The first session of the 13th convocation National People's Congress of China (the country’s supreme legislative body) voted for the new composition of the Chinese government, appointing new vice premiers and members of the State Council. They also backed the candidates Prime Minister Li Keqiang had nominated as heads of ministries.
