China’s Xinjiang Uygur Region sees use of national currencies in trade with Belarus as possible

URUMQI, 27 April (BelTA) – The Government of China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region sees the use of the national currencies in trade with Belarus as possible, director of the commerce department at the Government of China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Yang Kaixin told BelTA.

He stressed that the Xinjiang Government seeks expansion of international comprehensive cooperation in view of the implementation of China’s One Belt, One Road initiative. According to Yang Kaixin, trade in national currencies is promising. For example, it can be Belarusian rubles and Chinese yuans in mutual payments with Belarus.

Speaking about the advantages of the One Belt, One Road initiative, the representative of the Xinjiang Government stressed the evident mutual benefit for the participating states. This long-term project is aimed at the development of national potentials of the states that decide to take part in its implementation.

The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is located in China’s northwest and makes up one sixth of the country’s territory. The Great Silk Road crossed the area in old times. Several centuries later the Silk Road idea will be revived to become a powerful uniting platform for large-scale international cooperation.
