China ready to implement SCO development strategy together with Belarus
MINSK, 18 April (BelTA) – In the context of growing instability of the international situation, China and Belarus use the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a platform to protect the common interests of the Global South. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan made the statement in an exclusive comment to BelTA due to the creation of an alley in Minsk dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as part of the nationwide community clean-up day (subbotnik).
“During the 2025 SCO Tianjin summit Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko, together with the leaders of other member states, reached an important consensus on building a more just and equitable system of global governance,” Zhang Wenchuan noted.
The ambassador emphasized the importance of the Belarusian side’s firm support for the initiative on global governance put forward by Xi Jinping. “Against the backdrop of increasing instability in the international situation and growing threats of hegemonism and the policy of force, China and Belarus, using the SCO as a platform, defend the common interests of the Global South, upholding international justice and equality, and putting genuine multilateral cooperation into practice,” the head of the diplomatic mission added.
“Having reached a new starting point – the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization – China is ready to work together with member states, including Belarus, to effectively implement the SCO Development Strategy until 2035, promote cooperation in the areas of interconnectivity, economy and trade, security, and humanitarian exchanges, strive to build a tighter SCO community with a shared future, bring more benefits to the peoples of all countries in the region, and contribute positive energy to the cause of peace and development around the world,” Zhang Wenchuan emphasized.
