Call to minimize ‘gaps’ between EAEU presidents’ decisions and their implementation

Call to minimize ‘gaps’ between EAEU presidents’ decisions and their implementation

MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) – It is necessary to minimize the “gaps” between the decisions made by the heads of state of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and their implementation, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Mikhail Myasnikovich said as he met with Belarus’ Prime Minister Sergei Rumas on 28 February, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Myasnikovich

“My view is that there is a very wide gap between the political will of the heads of state and the real situation. I do not mean to say that what is accepted by the heads of state is ignored in the process of working on documents and their implementation. It will be a wrong assessment. But often under the aegis of the so-called careful attitude to sovereignty, not quite exhaustive measures are taken to better implement those political decisions taken by the heads of state. I see it as a task to minimize these ‘gaps’ in order to implement the decisions, the guidelines given by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich.

Sergei Rumas

According to Sergei Rumas, Mikhail Myasnikovich has spent a month on his new post and that month has been filled with international meetings both at the supreme and highest levels and on the internal agenda of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission. “As far as I know, you have already thoroughly studied the issues which are high on our integration agenda. It is important for us that you are taking a fresh look at the issues we face today. You know the country’s position very well. You have dedicated many years of your work to develop it. Now you have a better understanding of the position of the personnel of the Board [of the Eurasian Economic Commission]. It is of high importance for me to hear your opinion on the issues which are on the agenda today, on the barriers and restrictions we need to remove,” Sergei Rumas said.
