Call for concrete work instead of public discussions to smooth Belarus-Russia cooperation

Call for concrete work instead of public discussions to smooth Belarus-Russia cooperation

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – Concrete routine work of Belarus and Russia will produce more results than public discussions. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei made the relevant statement as he and foreign diplomats visited the WW2 memorial complex Khatyn in Logoisk District, Minsk Oblast on 22 March, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei noted that he supports the statement the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had made regarding indirect debates between the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador of Russia to Belarus Mikhail Babich. “We’ve already told our friends and partners that idle chatting is less useful than concrete routine work,” he stressed.

Vladimir Makei pointed out that some debatable matters should not be splashed out into the public space. “Every time when I come to my office and turn on [the TV channel] Russia 24 and see the news ticker: [Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia] Rosselkhoznadzor shuts down four enterprises or something like that,” he explained. According to Vladimir Makei, instead of reporting the problem to the general public one should get directly in tough and work to resolve the problems, which sometimes surface in the bilateral relations.
