Belarusians to need e-passports to travel to Israel visa-free

MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – Belarusians travelling to Israel will not need visas if they have biometric passports (or e-passports), Israeli Deputy Interior Minister Faina Kirschenbaum told reporters on 9 July answering a question of a BelTA journalist.

The Belarus-Israel draft agreement on visa-free travels has already been approved by the Israeli Interior Ministry and submitted to the Foreign Ministry of Israel. The agreement also needs to be approved by the parliament. “I think it will be done within two months,” Faina Kirschenbaum said.

She emphasized that the Belarus-Israel relations are developing quite dynamically. Belarus has recently welcomed a number of high-ranking officials from Israel. A visit of the Minister of Public Security of Israel is now on the agenda. Faina Kirschenbaum expressed confidence that the two countries will expand the bilateral cooperation in economy, too.

Israeli Deputy Interior Minister Faina Kirschenbaum is meeting with Belarus’ Interior Minister Igor Shunevich. The parties are discussing immigration policy and illegal migration, and a number of others issues. Faina Kirschenbaum is also expected to meet with Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Viktor Guminsky.
