MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – It would be a good idea if parliamentarians of Belarus and Russia could take care of steering cooperation between municipal self-government agencies. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement during the plenary session of the third Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 8 June, BelTA has learned.
“Municipal self-government agencies sometimes fall below the radar of the central government,” pointed out Alexander Lukashenko.
“If you deem it necessary to oversee these matters, Belarus would only welcome the effort,” the President told MPs.
Alexander Lukashenko described forums of regions of Belarus and Russia as a good practical deed that bolsters interregional cooperation. The organization of these forums is overseen by the upper chambers of the Belarusian and Russian parliaments.
