MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – The fourth session of the eighth-convocation Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus has approved the bill on the republican budget for the year 2026, BelTA has learned.
“The draft budget was developed under conditions that require particular responsibility and foresight, given the challenging external environment. It is based on the social and economic development scenario approved by the decree of the head of state on 3 November 2025. Revenues of the republican budget for 2026 are supposed to reach Br54.4 billion. More importantly, revenues are expected to grow ahead of expenditures at a rate of 112% compared to the expected level for 2025,” said Roman Brodov, Chairman of the Economy, Budget, and Finance Commission of the Council of the Republic.


At the same time, the expenditures of the republican budget have been set at Br58.7 billion. “42% of the consolidated budget expenditures will be concentrated in the social sphere. It is fully in line with the state’s traditional focus on improving the quality of life of the people,” Roman Brodov noted.
He pointed out that 2026 is expected to see a controlled deficit of the republican budget to the tune of Br4.35 billion. “The budget is always a compromise. It balances desires and capabilities, current needs and long-term goals. And, according to the relevant commission, the Finance Ministry has managed to find this balance for the year 2026,” the chairman of the Economy, Budget, and Finance Commission of the Council of the Republic concluded.
