MINSK, 3 July (BelTA) – A Belarusian embassy will be opened in Myanmar. The Council of Ministers’ corresponding resolution No.328 “On opening the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar” dated 29 June 2026 has been signed by Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin, BelTA learned from the website of the national legislation registry.

The document stipulates the decision to open the Belarusian embassy in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar by 1 November 2026.

The Finance Ministry has been instructed to finance the costs of opening and maintaining the embassy within the limits of the funds the republican state budget allocates for these purposes.

This is one of the first practical results of the visit of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and a new step in developing Belarus-Myanmar cooperation. During the visit the Belarusian head of state met with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing. Matters of cooperation in industry, agriculture, pharmaceutics, the humanitarian sphere, and other areas were on the agenda. The joint action plan includes concrete measures for the 2026-2028 period.

The bilateral projects the leaders of the countries have agreed upon are meant to consolidate and stabilize the overall positive trend toward growth in mutual trade in the long term.

The resolution comes into force on the day of its official publication.
