Belarusian diplomat elected as deputy chairman of UN Committee for Programme and Coordination

Vadim PisarevichMINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – A representative of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been elected to the post of deputy chairman of the United Nations Committee for Programme and Coordination (CPC), BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The 57th session of the UN Committee for Programme and Coordination opened at the UN Headquarters in New York on 5 June. The session will run until 30 June. Vadim Pisarevich, Deputy Head of the Directorate for Multilateral Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, has been elected as CPC deputy chairman.

The committee will discuss the strategic framework for the UN activities for the period 2018-2019 and review the status of implementation of the current programs.

The UN Committee for Programme and Coordination consists of 31 UN member states. It is the main subsidiary organ of the Economic and Social Council and the General Assembly for planning, programming and coordination. Belarus has been elected to the CPC for the period 2015-2017. The committee reviews the implementation of UN programs, evaluates the results achieved, and makes proposals for the program and budget activities of the Organization.
