Belarusian delegation takes part in 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva
MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) - A Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Healthcare Minister, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Republic of Belarus Svetlana Nechai is taking part in the 79th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland from 18 to 23 May, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry.
Speaking at the plenary session, Svetlana Nechai noted that Belarus guarantees universal access to medicines and vaccines, and the introduction of new technologies is helping to consistently improve the quality of healthcare services.
According to Svetlana Nechai, Belarus supports the leading role of states in defining and implementing priorities for reforming the global healthcare structure.
The Belarusian side also reaffirmed its commitment to constructive cooperation, exchange of experience and joint efforts aimed at protecting public health and promoting sustainable development. Svetlana Nechai also took part in a session dedicated to preparedness for public health emergencies. She shared Belarus’ approaches and experience in diagnosing and treating infectious and non-communicable diseases, as well as organizing effective epidemiological surveillance.
She also held a number of meetings with officials and experts from the WHO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, the World Health Organization Secretariat and others.
During a meeting between Svetlana Nechai and First Deputy Minister of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba Tania Margarita Cruz Hernandez, the sides discussed current issues of bilateral healthcare cooperation and outlined joint measures to intensify it.
