MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) - Belarusian Ambassador Andrei Metelitsa presented credentials to Pakistan President Arif Alvi, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

During the meeting after the ceremony, the parties discussed the political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation between the countries. “The parties stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in areas important for Belarus and Pakistan such as industry, agriculture and pharmaceuticals. Despite the pandemic-related restrictions, the countries still held joint events in science, technology, health and pharmaceuticals  in 2020," the embassy said.

Andrei Metelitsa and Arif Alvi reviewed the events planned for this year, including a meeting of the joint commission on trade and economic cooperation, political consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers, meetings of expert working groups in industry and agriculture.

The ambassador confirmed the invitations to the prime minister and the speaker of the National Assembly of the Parliament of Pakistan to visit Belarus. In this regard, Arif Alvi noted that meetings at the highest level give impetus to the development of cooperation in all areas. The president also said that Belarusian-made industrial products, especially the Belarus tractor, have long been known in Pakistan.

"In conclusion of the meeting, the Pakistan president said that the country's leadership is ready to further develop friendly relations with Belarus. He also wished success to the new Belarusian ambassador and  further prosperity and growth to the Belarusian-Pakistan relations," the diplomatic mission added.
