Belarusian ambassador presents credentials to Emperor of Japan

MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Japan Ruslan Yesin has presented his credentials to Emperor Akihito of Japan, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the ceremony, the Belarusian ambassador praised the contribution of the people of Japan to the effort to minimize the impact of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident on Belarus. He also stressed that the Belarusian side is eager to advance the bilateral political and economic cooperation to a new level.

The ceremony was attended by Japanese Deputy Prime and Minister of Finance Taro Asa. The parties exchanged the views on the status and prospects of the Belarusian-Japanese cooperation. Taro Asa showed interest in the proposal of the Belarusian side to intensify economic cooperation between the two countries.
