Belarus, WHO Regional Office for Europe sign cooperation plan for 2018-2019

MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) - The Belarusian Healthcare Ministry and the WHO Regional Office for Europe signed a new cooperation plan for 2018-2019 in Copenhagen, Denmark, BelTA learned from the press service of the Healthcare Ministry.

The document was signed following the meeting between Belarusian Healthcare Minister Valery Malashko and WHO Regional Director for Europe Zsuzsanna Jakab. It was developed as a result of bilateral consultations. The overall budget of the plan is $1.2 million. At the same time, the true size of the WHO’s contribution goes beyond the sum indicated in the document since it includes technical support and other contributions from the WHO headquarters, its regional office.

Valery Malashko and Zsuzsanna Jakab discussed the priority areas of cooperation between Belarus and the WHO, summed up the implementation of the plan of cooperation between the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry and the WHO Regional Office for Europe for 2016-2017. The minister spoke about the achievements of the national healthcare and laid out the plans for the development of the industry.

Valery Malashko is in Copenhagen on an official visit at the invitation of the Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe. The minister also visited the United Nations Children's Fund Office where he got acquainted with the work of the UNICEF Supply Division, met with the director of the division, discussed the priority areas of cooperation and other issues of common interest.
