Belarus wants UNDAF to incorporate up-to-date technical assistance projects

MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei held a traditional meeting with the UN country team led by UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in Belarus Sanaka Samarasinha, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

The press service noted that the parties had a constructive exchange of views on the status and prospects of cooperation between Belarus and the United Nations.

The United Nations adopted the Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for the Republic of Belarus 2016-2020 and it is important to make a concerted effort to fill it with the technical assistance projects that would be up-to-date and relevant from the point of view of Belarus’ national interests, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

The parties summed up the results of the joint initiatives on the occasion of the founding of the United Nations.

The head of the UN Office in Belarus expressed gratitude to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the support and assistance in the implementation of the UN-70 Express initiative.
