Belarus voices deep concerns over North Korea’s nuclear test

MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) – Belarus expresses deep concern over the nuclear test by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, reads the statement by the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Consistently advocating the compliance with and strengthening of the nuclear non-proliferation regime, Belarus expresses deep concerns over North Korea’s nuclear test fueling tensions in Northeast Asia and worldwide,” the press service noted.

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs underlined that peace and stability in the region can be achieved only through a dialogue. The ministry therefore calls on North Korea to refrain from steps violating several UN Security Council resolutions and provoking a belligerent solution.

“Belarus stands for the prompt start of the negotiation process between all the parties involved on the basis of international law and in compliance with the competence of the UN Security Council. We call to show restraint and bear in mind peace as a priority,” the press service added.
