MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Vietnam Vladimir Borovikov presented the copies of his credentials to head of the Directorate of State Protocol of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Viet Dung on 17 March, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Hanoi.

“The parties took note of the traditionally friendly relations between Belarus and Vietnam. They also emphasized the mutual willingness to work on further intensification of cooperation, and discussed the priority issues of the bilateral agenda,” the Belarusian diplomatic mission said.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 24 January 1992. In December 1997 the trade mission of the Republic of Belarus in Vietnam was transformed into an embassy. The Vietnamese embassy in the Belarusian capital was opened in late 2003.
