Belarus-Uzbekistan sign cooperation roadmap

ASTANA, 2 November (BelTA) – Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Rumas and Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov signed a cooperation roadmap between the two countries on 2 November, BelTA has learned.

The roadmap includes more than 100 events to boost bilateral trade in goods and services, provide mutual access to the parties' markets, cooperate in industrial cooperation, agriculture, light industry, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, construction, petrochemistry, and energy. Some measures concern humanitarian cooperation and the development of interregional cooperation, the establishment of twinning relations.

Belarus plans to supply Uzbekistan with wood products, consumer goods and MAZ trucks worth $2 million, MTZ tractors worth $5 million. BelAZ is ready to take part in equipment delivery tenders. The states will organize mutual food supplies, work out possible exports of Belarusian malt and sugar. Uzbekistan is ready to increase the supply of dried fruits. The mutual trade in fruit and vegetables and other products should reach $10 million per year. An Uzbekistan trading house or a store may be set up in Minsk.

Belarus and Uzbekistan will look into possibilities of setting up joint companies to produce milk, medicines, medical equipment, mini-tractors and attachments, bicycles, and also a joint transport and logistics enterprise. Belarusian organizations will help build modern dairy farms in Uzbekistan.

Belarus also plans to enter the Uzbek cotton-textile cluster. For this purpose, a project will be implemented to build spinning, weaving and finishing factories.
