Belarus-Uzbekistan forum of regions tentatively scheduled for June

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – A forum of the regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan has been tentatively scheduled for June, Sergei Rakhmanov, Chairman of the Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic, told the media, BelTA has learned.

The forum will be hosted by Belarus. “We are set to hold the event in June,” Sergei Rakhmanov said. “We expect serious participation and will be guided by the roadmap for cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan,” he added. The senator drew attention to the fact that some of the projects envisaged in this cooperation plan will be monitored at the parliamentary level.

The Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic and the Standing Commission for International Affairs of the House of Representatives held a joint meting on 14 February. The deputies and members of the Council of the Republic discussed cooperation with the  parliamentary organizations, ways of revitalizing the parliamentary working groups with colleagues from other countries. Sergei Rakhmanov said that the National Assembly and the executive authorities have been working towards  the common objective, namely to promote economic growth. During the meeting of the members of parliament identified priorities and major areas of work in this regard.
