Belarus, Uzbekistan discuss inter-parliamentary cooperation

MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Chairwoman of the public association Belarusian Union of Women Marianna Shchetkina met with Speaker of the Senate of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev and Vice Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan Sarvar Otamuratov in Uzbekistan, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Uzbekistan.

The parties talked over the promising areas of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the bilateral format and on multilateral platforms.

Marianna Shchetkina presented the concept of the First Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan which is planned to be held in Minsk in 2019. The parties reached agreements on choosing coordinators from the parliaments of the two countries to prepare for the forum.

The head of the Belarusian delegation also met with Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva.
