MINSK, 5 June (BelTA) – Belarus and the United Nations Organization are working on a framework program to guide cooperation in 2021-2025, representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

Work on the program was discussed during a videoconference meeting of Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas and UN Resident Coordinator Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki. They discussed in detail the priority avenues of cooperation of Belarusian government agencies with UN development system agencies. The implementation of international technical aid projects in the area of sustainable development was discussed.

Andrei Dapkiunas and Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki paid close attention to progress in preparing a Belarus-UN framework cooperation program for the 2021-2025 period. They mentioned the importance of understanding by all parties of the value of the framework program as a practical tool for effectively pooling efforts of countries, international organizations, and the civil society for full and faster accomplishment of sustainable development goals.

The sides spoke positively of the experience of the 2016-2019 national action plan on human rights. Opinions were exchanged about the joint organization of events in Belarus on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the United Nations Organization. The anniversary is marked throughout 2020.
