MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov and UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus Rasul Baghirov signed the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for the Republic of Belarus for 2026–2030 on 29 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Heads of UN agency offices in Belarus also participated in the event.
The participants emphasized the importance of joint work in 2025 to implement a series of events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and the cooperation between Belarus and UN system agencies in the context of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals overall.
The minister of foreign affairs expressed a positive assessment of the long-standing cooperation between Belarus and the UN, highlighting Belarus’ contribution as a founding member of the United Nations in advancing a positive agenda within the UN aimed at building a just and multipolar world.
The cooperation framework is a strategically calibrated roadmap that is fully synchronized with Belarus’ national priorities - the National Sustainable Development Strategy of the Republic of Belarus through 2040 and the Social and Economic Development Program for 2026–2030, which was adopted at the second session of the 7th Belarusian People's Congress on 19 December.
The framework outlines four strategic priorities and corresponding long-term outcomes for each priority: human development and well-being for all; inclusive and sustainable economic transformation; a clean environment to ensure people’s livelihoods; and institutional foundations for peace and development.
