MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – Belarus and the United Arab Emirates are set to promote cooperation in customs mattes, BelTA learnt from the State Customs Committee.
Chairman of the State Customs Committee Yuri Senko took part in the fourth session of the joint committee on cooperation between the Government of Belarus and the UAE Government that took place in Abu Dhabi on 6-7 May. The heads of the customs authorities of the two countries discussed topical issues related to cooperation in customs matters. The meeting resulted in signing a cooperation agreement between the governments of Belarus and the UAE to promote cooperation and provide mutual assistance in customs affairs.
The agreement sets forth major principles and forms of cooperation in customs administration, as well as a protocol of coordination while submitting inquiries and providing information needed to detect, prevent and investigate offences. The implementation of the agreement will help unify and harmonize customs procedures and allow increasing efficiency and effectiveness of work of the customs services of the two countries.
