Belarus, Turkey discuss cooperation in crime prevention

MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – The 6th Budapest Process Ministerial Conference under the chairmanship of Turkey that initiated the Silk Routes Partnership for Migration project is underway in Istanbul on 19-21 February. The Belarusian delegation is led by Interior Minister Igor Shunevich, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Turkey.

The interior ministers of Belarus and Turkey met on 19 February to discuss law-enforcement issues of mutual interest. “The parties talked over further improvement of bilateral cooperation between the Belarusian Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Interior of Turkey in the fight against terrorism, organized crime, high-tech crimes, counteraction to drug traffic and trafficking in persons,” the embassy said. 

The adoption of the Istanbul Ministerial Declaration at the 5th Budapest Process Ministerial Conference which took place in Istanbul on 19 April 2013 meant the institute of the Silk Routes Partnership for Migration. Its main goal is to promote dialogue and mutual cooperation in managing migration flows taking place along the Silk Routes. The Istanbul Ministerial Declaration includes several initiatives organized around six Silk Routes priority partnership goals.
