Belarus to strengthen and improve diplomatic representation in Russia

MOSCOW, 10 June (BelTA) – Belarus’ diplomatic presence in Russia will be expanded, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov following their talks, BelTA has learned.

“I would like to say a couple of words about our plans to expand the geography and improve the quality of our diplomatic representation in Russia. Our embassy branches in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Vladivostok and Kaliningrad have been transformed into consulates general and given more ambitious tasks,” the foreign minister noted.

He emphasized the importance of opening a Russian consulate general in Grodno, as well as Russia’s embassy branches in Vitebsk, Gomel and Mogilev.

“Thus, we have significantly strengthened our diplomatic representation at the regional level,” Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov added.
