Belarus to host meetings of RCC, CIS Council for Informatization in 2017

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – Belarus will host a meeting of the Council of the Heads of Communications Administrations of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC) and the CIS Coordinating Council for Informatization under the RCC in May 2017. This decision was made by the joint meeting of the councils in Dushanbe on 24 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Belarus.

The Dushanbe meeting discussed the regulation of radio-frequency spectrum and satellite orbits, the strategy of cooperation between the CIS Member States in the development of the information society, payments for the provision of international telecommunications services between mobile operators, new approaches to regulation in the field of information and communication technologies, the trends in the development of telecommunications operators on the basis of multiservice networks. The meeting was attended by the heads of communications administrations of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Russia, Slovenia, Tajikistan and Afghanistan, representatives of the Universal Postal Union, International Telecommunication Union, the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) and heads of other organizations.

During the working visit, Belarus Communication and Information Technology Minister Sergei Popkov held consultations and negotiations with the heads of the communications administrations of Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Russia.

The Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC) is one of the first integration organizations in the post-Soviet space. Belarus’ Communication and Information Technology Ministry has been a full-fledged member of the RCC since 1991.
