Belarus to hold Days of Culture in Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Turkiye in 2023

MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) - Days of Culture of Kazakhstan will take place in Belarus in November 2022, while Belarus will present its art in Azerbaijan next year, head of the department of international cooperation and cooperation with the media of the Belarusian Culture Ministry Viktoriya Ratobylskaya said at a meeting with the Belarusians diaspora abroad at the National Library of Belarus on 24 October, BelTA has learned.

“We are expecting a large delegation from Kazakhstan. In November the Days of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be held in Belarus,” said Viktoriya Ratobylskaya. She added that Belarusian creative teams visited Kazakhstan last year.

This year the Days of Culture of Belarus were held in Moscow, Yoshkar-Ola and Kazan.

“The plans for next year are big. We hope that our counterparts, with whom we are negotiating to hold these events, will also support our proposals. We plan to host Days of Culture of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Belarusians are also ready to showcase their culture, and we are working on it. Plans are in place for the Days of Culture of Belarus to take place in Azerbaijan, Vietnam and Turkiye,” she said.

As for Russia, Belarus’ Days of Culture are planned in Perm Krai in 2023. “We are also negotiating with Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. We hope that our plans will be implemented,” the head of the department added.

According to her, such events are one of the opportunities to show the achievements and modern culture of Belarus, the best examples in various areas, including theater and folk art. The Days of Belarusian Cinema are very popular.

According to Viktoriya Ratobylskaya, the geography of the Days of Culture events is very wide. Due to the restrictions imposed during the pandemic, the format of such events had to be changed, new forms of presentation of Belarusian culture were introduced. For example, the Days of Culture of Belarus in China were held online for the first time. According to the head of the department, the direct participation of artists when a delegation comes to a particular country remains more in demand.

“We are ready to work with diasporas as well. Our international activity aims at involving all countries where our diasporas live in this international cultural exchange,” the head of the department concluded.

On 24 October the National Library of Belarus played a host to a meeting of the Belarusian diaspora (heads of foreign Belarusian amateur art groups and heads of public organizations of Belarusians abroad) with Belarusian Culture Minister Anatoly Markevich. Representatives of the Belarusian diaspora have come to Belarus for a creative training, which is taking place on 23-29 October on the basis of the cultural organizations and educational institutions.
