Belarus to discuss investment cooperation prospects with Australia

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation will discuss the prospects of investment cooperation in Australia, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told media on 28 April, BelTA has learned.

The visit of the delegation of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is scheduled for 2-3 May. Meetings are planned to take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Australia, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the National Farmers’ Federation, the Minerals Council of Australia and the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development.

“The parties are set to discuss a wide range of issues related to the development of bilateral relations between Belarus and Australia with a focus on trade, economic and investment cooperation, collaboration in the context of Belarus’ membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, and also the prospects for cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries,” Dmitry Mironchik said. “Australia with its highly developed mining industry and agriculture is of certain interest from the viewpoint of the prospects to advance mine and agricultural machinery, tires, equipment, fertilizers to its market, attract direct investments, develop contacts with the Belarusian diaspora,” he noted.

Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Australia were established on 9 January 1992. In August 2014 Belarus opened its embassy in Australia.
