MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) - Belarus will continue to provide full support to Syrian reconstruction, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Damascus.
These issues were addressed during a meeting of Belarusian Ambassador to Syria Yuri Sluka and Speaker of the People’s Assembly of the Syrian Arab Republic Hammouda Sabbagh. The parties also discussed ways of revitalizing Belarusian-Syrian inter-parliamentary cooperation. The meeting was also attended by co-chairman of the inter-parliamentary cooperation commission of the People’s Assembly of Syria and the National Assembly of Belarus Sameer al-Khatib, Secretary of the People's Assembly of Syria Rami al-Saleh, members of the Syrian-Belarusian inter-parliamentary commission.
Hammouda Sabbagh appreciated the friendly position of Belarus in terms of supporting Damascus during the Syrian conflict. He reiterated Syria’s willingness to intensify bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation and to step up the activity of the interparliamentary commission, including through the exchange of visits of delegations.
Ambassador Yuri Sluka reaffirmed the importance of bolstering inter-parliamentary cooperation as one of the area of the Belarusian-Syrian engagement.
