Belarus to attend UNECE Regional Conference

MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Belarus will take part in the UNECE High Level Regional Conference “Enabling Choices: Population Priorities for the 21st century”. The conference will take place in Geneva on 1-2 July 2013, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Belarus Andrei Savinykh told reporters on 27 June.

The Belarusian delegation will be led by Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security Alexander Rumak. The participants of the conference will review the implementation of the plan of action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in the UNECE region. The conference is also expected to discuss strategies for action beyond 2014. Thematic sessions will highlight population dynamics and sustainable development, families and reproductive health, social inclusion.

The conference’ group debates will discuss the problems of establishing cooperation in the area of population and development in the 21st century.
