Belarus takes over chairmanship in CIS Advisory Council of Heads of Electoral Bodies

MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) – Belarus has taken over the chairmanship of the CIS Advisory Council of Heads of Electoral Bodies. Now the council will be led by Chairman of the CEC of our country Igor Karpenko. This decision was made at the third meeting of the Advisory Council of Heads of Electoral Bodies of the CIS member states in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

Currently, the parties to the agreement on the Establishment of the Advisory Council are Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. The Advisory Council was created to ensure cooperation between the electoral authorities of the CIS member states in order to promote the improvement of the electoral process, taking into account the experience of the CIS countries in holding elections and referendums in accordance with the legislation and international obligations of the states.
