Belarus, Sudan expand ecological partnership

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Sudan are expanding their ecological partnership. The matter was discussed at a working meeting between Belarusian Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Viktor Galanov and the secretary general of the Higher Council for the Environment and Natural Resources (HCENR) of Sudan on the sidelines of the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, BelTA has learned.

The parties confirmed their intention to step up bilateral cooperation in environmental protection. They discussed the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding between the relevant government agencies of the two countries.

The deputy natural resources and environmental protection minister also invited the Sudanese delegation to take part in the international expo INNOPROM. Belarus in order to continue the dialogue and translate the agreements reached into practice.

“Participation in global platforms such as COP17 makes it possible to exchange best practices, building mutually beneficial international ties,” the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry press service stressed.
