Belarus stands for promoting Non-Aligned Movement goals and principles in Europe

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) - Belarus speaks in favor of promoting the goals and principles of the Non-Aligned Movement in Europe, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov said at the 17th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement, known also as the Non-Aligned Movement Summit, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The summit was held in the Island of Margarita, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Expressing Belarus’ position, Valentin Rybakov provided an analysis of the situation in the Non-Aligned Movement Organization over the past 25 years, its place and role in the modern world.

Founded in 1961, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) is an international organization that unites 120 member states which are not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc. Belarus joined the organization in 1998.
