Belarus-Spain economic commission to hold first meeting in Minsk on 18 October

MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – The first meeting of the Belarus-Spain joint intergovernmental commission on economic and industrial cooperation will be held in Minsk on 18 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France and concurrently to Spain Pavel Latushko met with Secretary of State for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain Jorge Toledo in Madrid to discuss the preparation for the meeting of the commission. They also reviewed the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei to Spain. The prospects for expanding the legal framework of the bilateral relations and concluding the cooperation agreements in legal matters, tourism, transport and science were one of the themes of the meeting. Special attention was paid to the cooperation between the two countries in agriculture. The sides reached a provisional agreement to hold Belarus-Spain ministerial consultations on consular matters.

The Belarusian ambassador also met with Juan Lopez-Herrera Sanchez, the general director for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Jorge Urbiola, deputy general director. Ambassador Pavel Latushko and Secretary of State for Tourism Matilde Pastora Asian Gonzalez reviewed the cooperation between Belarus and Spain in tourism including the mutual participation of representatives of the tourism industry in international exhibitions.
