Belarus, South Korea set up business cooperation council

MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – Belarus and South Korea have established a business cooperation council. The relevant protocol was signed by Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Vladimir Ulakhovich and Chairman of Korea International Trade Association (KITA) Koo Ja-yeol at the online inaugural meeting of the council, BelTA learned from the BelCCI website.

The council was set up within the framework of the execution of the BelCCI-KITA cooperation agreement signed on 15 December 2020. “This is a new platform for discussing business matters and ways to strengthen Belarus-South Korea cooperation in economy, investment, science, and technology. The business council will include heads of Belarusian and South Korean companies that have successful experience of interaction and contribute to the intensification of the bilateral business and economic relations as well as enterprises that are keen to implement joint projects in the most promising fields,” the BelCCI noted. The council will led by the heads of the BelCCI and KITA and will convene at least once a year.

Taking part in the inaugural meeting of the Belarusian-Korean business cooperation council were BelCCI Chairman Vladimir Ulakhovich, KITA Chairman Koo Ja-yeol, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to South Korea Andrei Popkov, and representatives of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus, the administrations of Belarus’ Hi-Tech Park and the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Economy Research Institute of the Belarusian Economy Ministry, and the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy.

The meeting also brought together heads and specialists of foreign trade and marketing services of more than 20 leading Belarusian and South Korean companies working in electronics, machine tool engineering, mechanical engineering, pharmaceutics, information technology, and other fields. The participants of the meeting discusses the current state of the trade and economic cooperation, prospects for its development, and possible joint projects. The event also featured presentations of Belarusian and South Korean companies.
