Belarus’ socio-economic development program for 2026-2030 adopted

Belarus’ socio-economic development program for 2026-2030 adopted

MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) - The program of socio-economic development of the Republic of Belarus for 2026-2030 was adopted at the session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on 19 December, BelTA has learned.

The decision was taken unanimously.

The program sets out seven priorities for the five‑year period. The first priority is national demographic security, i.e. preserving the population, strengthening the nation’s health, and supporting the family. The second is developing human capital, ensuring quality education, and nurturing a harmonious and patriotic individual. The third is creating a high-quality and comfortable living environment.

The fourth priority outlined in the program is boosting competitiveness, accelerating technological development, and pursuing digital transformation. The fifth is strong regions, the sixth is strengthening the state’s defense capability and developing the defense sector of the economy, and the seventh is developing tourism potential. Specific tasks have been set under each priority.

While presenting the program for approval, Belarus’ Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin noted that the implementation of these priorities will allow citizens to feel tangible improvements in their quality of life within a five-year period. The program is fully funded, with sources of financing calculated in line with the real capacities of the economy.

“Thus, the key requirements have been met: financial security and the feasibility of the tasks set in the program. The results of fulfilling these tasks will be reported annually by the prime minister to the Belarusian People’s Congress in accordance with the Constitution. It will also be possible, by decision of the Congress, to introduce amendments and additions to the program if the situation in the country or externally changes significantly,” the prime minister said.

He added that the program essentially reflects the economic development model of the state, setting realistic tasks while ensuring macroeconomic balance. The program corresponds to the objectives of the “quality five-year plan”, meets the demands of society, and guarantees adherence to the chosen course of building a strong and prosperous Belarus.
