Belarus, Slovakia discuss bilateral relations

MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna is on a visit to Slovakia on 12-14 October. The parties have already held bilateral ministerial consultations, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Slovakian delegation was led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia Lukas Parizek. “The parties discussed the dynamics and prospects for Belarusian-Slovak relations in political, economic, humanitarian and other spheres, as well as strengthening of the Belarus-EU dialogue, and cooperation within the international and regional organizations,” the ministry informed.

Special attention was paid to the issues of interaction between Belarus and Slovakia during the Presidency of Belarus in the Central European Initiative in 2017.

Alena Kupchyna also held a meeting with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajcak. The parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as the development of Belarus-EU dialogue in the light of Slovakia’s current Presidency in the EU.

On 13 October 13 Alena Kupchyna is set to meet with Chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the National Council (Parliament) of Slovakia, Head of the Group of Friendship with Belarus at the Parliament of Slovakia Robert Madej.
