MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – The Economy Ministry of Belarus and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore signed a memorandum of understanding on 4 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.
The document was signed after the meeting between Economy Minister Dmitry Krutoi and Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry Koh Poh Koon. The parties discussed trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and also promising areas of interaction. The focus was made on the bilateral talks to sign an agreement on free trade in services and investment between Belarus and Singapore as part of the initiative to develop a large-scale free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union and Singapore. The free trade zone envisages free movement of goods, services and capital.
The memorandum signed by the parties regulated the issues related to the talks on the services and investment agreement and also confirmed the intention of the parties to sign the agreement on free trade in services and investment between Belarus an Singapore after Belarus competes talks on joining the World Trade Organization.
