Belarus-Serbia relations steadily improve

MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) – There is positive dynamics in the development of Belarus-Serbia relations. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko pointed out the fact during expanded-participation negotiations with Serbia President Tomislav Nikolic on 19 November, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that it is particularly true in the sphere of trade and economy, humanitarian cooperation, and interaction at the interregional level.

The Belarus President stressed that the large-scale task to raise the trade turnover to $500 million had not been accomplished yet but the bilateral trade volume is rising and reached $250 million in 2014. According to the Belarusian head of state, it has a lot to do with the implementation of the agreement to promote cooperation between Belarus and Serbia in all areas of interaction. At the same time the search continues for new effective forms and promising areas of joint work.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that during the restricted-attendance meeting with the Serbia President he had already discussed a number of matters and the sides can state with satisfaction that there are no fundamental differences of opinion between Belarus and Serbia. It is true for the bilateral cooperation and the international agenda.

The countries maintain regular political dialogue at the high and top levels. Since 2013 it is the third official meeting of the presidents of Belarus and Serbia. According to the Belarusian leader, the fact confirms the friendly nature of relations between the two countries.
