Belarus, Serbia encouraged to boost information cooperation

MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Serbia should raise their cooperation in information to a new level, Belarusian Information Minister Lilia Ananich said as she met with the Serbia-Belarus Friendship Group in the Serbian Parliament on 24 October, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Information Ministry.

Lilia Ananich noted that, along with politics, economy and investment, information is also an important cooperation area. She expects that the visit will boost the cooperation in TV broadcasting and promotion of the satellite TV channel Belarus in Serbia. The minister also views book publishing and literature as important cooperation avenues.

For his part, Vladimir Marinkovic, Deputy Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, promised that Serbian MPs will be working to strengthen the cooperation between the countries. Serbian people have a warm regard for Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. The Parliaments of Belarus and Serbia are intensifying their ties. Vladimir Marinkovic stressed that Serbia realizes the importance of expanding its cooperation with Belarus in different fields.

Dragomir Karic, Honorary Consul of Belarus to Belgrade, Chairman of the Serbia-Belarus Friendship Group in the Serbian Parliament, emphasized the fraternal nature of the relations between the people of Serbia and Belarus and the importance of the visit of the Belarusian delegation. As the first visit of such a high level, it is expected to strengthen the ties in the field of information. The Serbian side will do its best to advance the cooperation, Dragomir Karic promised.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Serbia Vladimir Chushev also attended the meeting.

The Belarusian delegation led by Information Minister Lilia Ananich is in Serbia on a return visit held in the context of the implementation of the memorandum of cooperation between the Belarusian Information Ministry and the Ministry of Culture and Information of Serbia.
