MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) – Belarus seeks to achieve tangible results in its cooperation with Nigeria’s Niger State, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich said during a meeting with Governor of Niger State Mohammed Umaru Bago, BelTA has learned.

“Our countries have forged friendly relations, first and foremost due to the trust and mutual respect between the presidents of Belarus and Nigeria. In its work with Nigeria, Belarus has shown a serious commitment to the comprehensive agricultural cooperation roadmap for 2024-2029, aimed at fostering interaction and strengthening ties,” Viktor Karankevich said.

The vice-premier highlighted the fulfillment of the roadmap’s first stage, citing the delivery of more than 2,000 units of Belarusian machinery with mounted and trailed attachments. He emphasized that this equipment is already benefiting Nigeria.

Viktor Karankevich believes that the working visit of the Niger State delegation to Belarus is an important step in expanding bilateral cooperation. “We highly value this interaction with your delegation from one of Nigeria’s largest states,” he said. “We see Niger State as a promising partner and are focused on joint work to achieve practical results for the prosperity of the people of Niger State. The opportunity to put our agreements into practice represents a serious step to bolster Nigeria’s food security.”

The deputy prime minister stressed that it is important for Niger State to see Belarus as a reliable friend, who is eager to share competencies, experience, and knowledge for further advancement of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.
